Satellite

Recommended Posts

Hello,

so i have a problem. I really want to get a satellite into orbit but i dont know how to get a Satellite into a another spacecraft which is not in the same Vehicle file.

So i have file a with the satellite and file b with the rocket but i dont know how to get the satellite into file b.

I would really appreciate if any of you could help me.

Thanks and greetings

First, get familiar with the re root tool, as you'll probably need to change the root part of the s satellite, as that will be the attachment point.  Next, make a sub assembly with the satellite.  Load your rocket in the vab and select the satellite disassembly and attach.

^This. Alternatively open the vessel list (load) and use the merge button.

BTW welcome aboard.

To be even more explicit:

Load the satellite. Find the current root part (by hovering over each part to find the one that makes the whole satellite turn green). Locate the part that is going to be the attachment point. Click the re-root tool, click the old root part, click the new root part (the attachment point), then click one more time. Save the satellite again (just saving as a file works OK).

Load the mothership. Click the "open" button in the editor again, select your satellite, and click the Merge button. Now you should be able to attach the new root part of the satellite to the proper point on your mothership. You may need to hold down "Alt" while you do it.
