I always wondered what a spacecraft engine firing in a vacuum would look like. Here's an image of Apollo 8 performing its TLI as visible from Hawaii.

Another good source.

The famous footage of staging from Apollo 4, showing among other things a view right down the throat of a J-2 firing in vacuum. :)

That is so cool, looks almost like its CG, so smooth
