How to calculate the right moment to fire engines to guide the rocket to the moon.

First

- shoot into a stabile low orbit - something like 100x100km

- when Mun comes over the horizont its time to fire your engines up to a point where Muns grav catches your ship.

The way I first did it was to go straight up then go into orbit due east (or it might have been west, I forget). Once there, burn the rockets until the orbit extends (elliptically) out to mun, then time warp. Eventually, you should fall under the Mun's gravitational influence. Once there, burn again to put yourself in stable mun orbit. Getting home again you do the same thing in the other direction.

Get into a stable relatively low orbit (but not so low you are in the atmosphere) Heading eastwards

Wait for the mun to appear over the horizon or Kerbin

Burn until your orbit reaches the muns soi, the graphic in map view should confirm it
