Guys,

Sorry for the simple question, but i'm new to this!

Currently i'm trying to complete the heat shield testing (.625) and I was curious on the altitude part.

The requirement is 30-36,000m, does this mean the testing needs to take place within this altitude or needs to be tested through the entire range?

Also, does it matter if i'm ascending or descending?

-Thanks so much!

i know some of this contract look very easy

but sometimes you have a speed requirement that can make these contract a real pain

you only need meet the requirements. if you are between 30-36,000m and 'run test' option when right click on the part does not fulfil the contract you might have a speed requirement you missed. in that case you have to go a certain speed between that altitude, and then click: run test

It does not matter - you could even be going sideways. As long as you also fulfill any speed requirement the contract may or may not have.

While in flight, use the contracts menu on the sidebar on the right to pull up the info for this contract. It will show every individual requirement in a list, and as soon as they are fulfilled, they will be marked with a green checkmark. You will notice that the altitude requirement turns green as soon as you are anywhere inside this altitude range. When all requirements are checked green at the same time, the contract completes.

I wasn't selecting 'run test' on the shield!

A common mistake of new players, mind you.  Take it as a lesson,  carefully reading the contract's description is advisable.  If nothing else because the random parameters may result, in some cases, in freaking difficult contracts (e.g. test poodle engine below 5km, and faster than 1200m/s).

Another common mistake is at satellite contract,  when someone end in a orbit that is the reverse of what the contract asked.

Details matter.
