Wheels jumping up on physics load in low gravity

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

I have this problem: any wheeled vehicle landed on a low gravity body would be thrown up pretty high on loading.

This happens:

- with any vehicles resting on wheel parts, namely landing gear, rover wheels.

- on switching to the vehicle, both if you load a save centered on this vehicle and if you switch to it from KSC or via map.

This won''t happen if vehicle rests not on wheels but on some single part, like an engine.

These vehicles also seem to jump in larger gravity, but insignificantly so.

I am currently having a problem with a huge rover I landed on Dune - whenever I load it, it gets thrown high into the sky and then destroyed from falling. It also does not have engines, so I am basically just able to watch a multi hour effort perish in no fame :(

Is this issue know, and what could I do about it?

For you more pressing isue, the rover being throw in the air. Get to the Cheat menu and [hack gravity]. Hopefully you either find a setting allow you to load the vessel or at least don't make it crash so hard (in that case [unbreakable joints] and [no crash damage] may also help)

It is a known issue, and the devs are working on it. It's not something easy to fix, though. It seems to be much worse if you leave you ship parked on a steep slope.

As spricigo says, a good workaround is to increase gravity before you switch focus to a ship that jumps. If it still jumps, you can reset the gravity to normal while it is in midair. That way it comes down soft.

Thank you for this advice, I face the same problem. :)
