I'm in Kerbin orbit with a reactor, electric generator, and my radiators extended with a small alcubierre drive. I right click on the alcubierre drive to see its "stats" and see that it can only hold around 500 exotic matter. When I charge up, my reactor and electric generator run out of electricity really quickly. Could anyone explain this problem and help me solve it?

Charging the drive with Exotic Matter requires stupendous amounts of power, requiring 10k EC/EM produced for the standard models and 12.5k EC/EM for the Z-models. All drives will use EC to the tune of thousands per second to recharge, so of course it will drain your power.
