Bottoms Up Challenge

Recommended Posts

This challenge is for all those who think this sandbox needs a few more tornadoes in it.

Build a rocket which tries to epitomise Kerbalesque design that is still capable of getting part of itself into a stable (though not necessarily circular) orbit.

My subcategory for this is 'Bottoms Up', signifying both how drunk you'd have to be to get into this thing, plus the fact that it's built almost entirely upside down. All the boosters are at the top, draped over the lower stages like a canopy. See the attached images.

Behold, the 'Kerbal Two'. It has three motor stages, each piled above and on top of the last. I had to get clever with some retro-boosters to help get stages clear of one another. I rarely get more than a tenth of the launches into orbit owing to extremly tricky decoupling.

No restrictions on mods, provided they're not obvious 'cheats'. Besides, bonus points for being able to do this with lower quality parts anyway.

If you post an addition, tell me what category it should be under. I expect rampant humour and bad puns. Also horrible space ships.

Get crackin'!

Here's my next absurd craft, under the category 'Catapults'... I notice there's another post in the challenges talking about this kind of craft, so perhaps I'll cross-post there. It's my first attempt at this kind of craft.

Behold, the Kerbalpult 1!
