Yeah, maybe it can beat those sluggish hornets, but not an F-16. Not even a two seat fuel tank-armed F-16. Probably not a 15 either.

empty weight varies from 30k to 34k, depending on conventional, STOVL or CATOBAR. The currently used F-18E/F Super Hornet weighs 32,081, so F-35 is either A. Lighter, B. Heavier by around 400lbs, or C. heavier by 1t. Wingspans on all F-35 variants, even CATOBAR, are shorter by anywhere between A/B 9ft and C 1ft, length on all is 10ft shorter. Fuselage width is most likely more narrow since there is one engine. F-35's fuselage will be wider, mainly because of stealth and internal weapons bays  under/straddling the engine and ducting. Also there's no real data on the f-35 facing off against the F-18 to begin with, just the f-16 and f-15.

It's never done it and a would not be surprised if it lost. The F-35 is not a dogfighter.(it lost to the f-16)it would definitely win at long range though...

It wasn't beating the F-16 and F-15 at first, but with more training, apparently things are more favorable towards the f-35. TBS the F-35 is a strike fighter, designed to fly in weapons, drop them, and run. The F-22, which would have perfectly fit Herobrian's arguement, weighing more than and being larger than the F-18, is an air superiority fighter whose one job is to knock out other aircraft.

The F-22... thats a different story. But the F-35 isn't a dogfighter, and is optimized for bombing and BVR.

A f-35 would lose to any airplane at close range.(SU-27, F-22, SU-57...) It needs to be escorted by a f-15, f-16, or f-22. But at long range, the f-35 will win because it is stealthy and has AMRAM's.

again, it brings the weapons and drops them. That is the F-35's whole purpose in life.

Cool, but lets not submit an f-35b variant. BDAC does not support VTOLS and i don't support excessive mods.

keep CG just forward of CL, and watch the incidence on your wings. You can trick KSP into thinking the CG is somewhere by slightly tipping the wings, this is shown if there is massive changes when you rotate the entire craft by pitch.

Good thing I'm Canadian....

Our government keeps making budget cuts so our air force is this tiny little group with barely a hundred planes in it. And that's not even mentioning the navy....

It is. The C-series doesn't actually compete with the 737, it competes with Embraer aircraft, so boeing shouldn't have a case, but whatever. Boeing's gonna do what it wants, eat 88 f-18 sales, and ruin corporate relations with Canada...yeah that does seem petty.
