North Polar Research Station Catastrophe

Two Veto Aerospace Cougar long-range transport aircraft were lost when Cougar 2's landing gear brakes failed as it attempted to park itself in the research site, which was studying the difference between Kerbin ice and Minmus ice. The research aircraft, called Polar Venturer was undamaged in the incident, and Cougar 2's cockpit was thrown clear. However, the entire forward section of Cougar 1 was destroyed, with heavy damage to the rest of the aircraft. Explosions have continued to occur from the wreck for at least five minutes.
