Console question/error on sample recovery

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Last night i completed my most advantageous mission to date. I sent a pod and lander to Minmus for a soil sample. I didn't fit a data storage module to the lander but it had the sample in it when the Val left it in orbit of Kerbol. After she landed (safely) i sent an unmanned probe with a data module to recover the sample. When i docked it wasn't there. Was my error in not sending a Kerbal or did it simply delete once Val left?

It's for future reference.

It should still be there, in orbit, stored in the lander. Are you still docked to it? By "data storage module" I assume you mean the mini-Science container? Exactly how did you try to get the experiment out of the lander? Did you use the "Collect All" function of the miniscience container?

To deliver experiments back to KSC: either you have to land the command pod of the ship on Kerbin and recover it, or a Kerbal on EVA has to use the Part Action Menu of the pod to take the experiment back out of the pod, or you use the "Collect all" function to pull the experiment into a miniscience container and recover that. If you use a Kerbal, then the experiment is then stored in the Kerbal's pockets until you either recover the Kerbal, or until the Kerbal boards a new pod. (In which case, the experiments get stored into the new pod.)
