My First Interplanetary Landing (Sorta)

Welcome to my first interplanetary mission! I'm gonna get straight to the point: I ran a small interplanetary craft into Duna's SOI. The problem? There was nowhere near enough fuel for capture! I ran out of delta-v about a quarter through capture, and that's not even counting landing. So, here comes Bill. I started having him burn retrograde with his jetpack, and I wondered: Can I actually save him? I got him to around an aerobraking periapsis and his orbit came to a close. I thought he was gonna make it!

Above is when I started documenting. This is during aerbraking:

Then, since I have 1.4: PARACHUTES!!!

Then he landed, and because of time warp, was sadly attacked by the kraken.

Don't worry. He was fine afterwards. Mostly.

Oh yes, I feel your pain. I was landing on the equivalent of Moho in the early game(don't ask me why) and I realized I didn't have enough fuel to return after landing. So I decided to land. The lander quickly ran out of fuel, and I was forced to jetpack down to the surface. But I made it! Granted I was using life-support which means he died a couple of hours after landing, but I managed to plant a flag!

I just have to ask one question, ksp. Why can I not just have ONE mission where it is not so dramatic it deserves a saga or epic? Just one?

Anyway, I have attempted the rescue. After 2 fails, I finally got a close enough landing estimate. Here is the craft:

I do not have any photos of the landing, because I was so caught up in saving the craft. In short, it went too fast and the cupola module was destroyed, along with my engines. (RIP: Maegan Kerman).

So, Bob was stranded 5 kilometers away.

5 kilometers, 4x time warp, and holding keys down later, Bob was there. Now we have 3 kerbals waiting for rescue, but at least they have a house. (I haven't told Bob yet, but there isn't enough room for him in the capsule). I'll keep this post updated: Here is the final scene:

Bob and the others will hopefully be rescued soon. I just hope I don't have to hold keys down for 5 minutes again, though.
