Does a mod like this exist already?

I would really like a mod where you can gather some sort of currency/science/kethane and can use it to build space centers in different places.  i often related this idea to the old Command and Conquer Red Alert games where you would deploy a certain truck that turns into your manufacturing facility.  in KSP you could have to transfer some heavy item and spend this 'currency' to turn it into another space center to build and produce things, and slowly build the whole space center at another location runway and all.  as expected, you could start building space centers on other planets if you have the resources and capabilities. 

 

anything along those lines?

Depends on whether your definition of "Space Center" is liberal enough :P 

You cannot build anything like the KSC, which has static buildings you interact with outside of flight mode and the like. That's not possible. What you can do, however, is deploy a part that acts as a spawn point for a new spacecraft. This way, you can design a new rocket in the VAB, but launch it from the surface of another world. The mod in question is called Ground Construction.

This mod already deals with having to supply resources (mined ones, not currencies) as well as a workforce in order to build something in situ. But if you want, you can up the complexity by a big chunk and instead go for Modular Kolonization System, which comes with Ground Construction bundled. With MKS, you will need to build up a whole colony that has several additional Kerbal classes, and production chains that process raw materials into the high-tech components required to construct new things. And if you also add a life support mod (which is recommended), you need to worry about keeping your Kerbals fed and happy, too. It is very complex though, so be prepared to spend a lot of time learning to be good at it.

The other mod that will allow you to build and deploy rockets off-word - again, using mined or shipped resources, and using crew to do the construction - is Extraplanetary Launchpads.  It uses a different set of resources, and doesn't require that you ship a kit up from Kerbin, but instead spawns from launchpads or launchsites (the former being specific parts attached to your building ship, the latter being areas defined by specific parts on the surface of a planet). Your choice on which you prefer.

If you want to have a resource to farm you can use The Gold Standard mod. Or try to mine some other rare material from another mod. Then with the mods mentioned above, ferry the gold back to Kerbin and land near the MAB/VAB for funds. Or bring your own vessel from Kerbin. 

If you want to build individual parts on site you could use the OSE mod. You would need Kerbal Inventory System(KIS)and Kerbal Attachment System(KAS), It has functionality with MKS mod mentioned above.

You didn't mention the version of KSP you are running, but you would need to wait for them to update if its 1.41.

Thank you everyone for your responses!  I am delighted to see these options.  I have the latest version of KSP on steam but have been hoarding gamedatas since 23.5

 

something im really looking for is the ability to have other runways to land at.  transporting whatever i may need to another spot and coming in for a landing.

Not sure if anyone is still reading this but here is where i am : ive downloaded the kolonization system bundled with ground construction, it seems close enough to what i want to learn how to work with it.  does anyone have a good guide to reccomend?  everything i find is very outdated. 

can i tune the kolonization system to make it more simple?

my perfect mod(s) would essentially be a simplified version this, three resources only.  Food, Ore, Resource (everything not food and ore).  Resource could just be purchased flat out at the KSC, or mined slowly around the universe.  Resource can even turn into food if you choose to process it that way.  c
