I just bought flight sim world from Dovetail

I have Train SImulator from Dovetail (ex KUJU). While it is an "okay" simulator, the whole business model stinks to high heavens. If you follow (since I am also a train fan I did so for a while), you end up spending a fortune on DLC, most of which is reiterations and/or reskins of other stuff.

The similarity of FSW is not an accident, rather DTG are using the same engine, they licensed from Microsoft. The "old" flight sims from Microsoft were the best though. You could buy awesome addons (ranging from super-detailed airplanes that modelled almost every subsystem, airports to highly detailed landscapes etc.) or you could find massive amounts of awesome freeware addons, that were almost as good as the payware stuff, in some instances even better.

It is a shame that major parts of this community almost entirely turned commercial. Not that I mind them making money with their talents, but as I said above, it is DTG's business model, that stinks (instead of making an addon, that provides a comprehensive scene, e.g. a "Lufthansa addon" with a variety of Lufthansa planes, they break it down to the smallest possible instances, so you have to buy the Lufthansa 737 pack, the Lufthansa 747 pack and so on...)

Unfortunately today, even though I have a comprehensive FS2004 library stored away on CDs, I have no time anymore. I used to do whole intercontinental flights based on real world schedules, but with work and kids, that is impossible.... KSP is already eating enough time... :)

Buy! . . use flightsim.com

This is my DL folder looked like, haven't FS in years. Like the DC6 the best.

Its got a Concorde, MSFS discontinued the Concorde so you have to find a different version. I had more craft files but I ditch the ones I didn't like over time. MOst of these came off of flightsim.com. Just register (they may charge now.).

The Boeings I used to fly when real weather was up, we used to fly around in the middle of the night looking for thunderstorms to land in the middle of, even a couple of hyrricanes down on the gulf. One wheel landings are always fun.
