Mechjeb - is it installed?

How do I use it?  It says on Curse to use it that I should "add either the AR202 surface-attached case from the Control tab or the MechJeb pod from the Pods tab to one of your vessels."  

I'm in career mode and have gone 3 steps into the tech tree (all 3 columns before the 45 point stuff), but I'm not seeing these components in my warehouse.  And I'm not seeing any way to access menus while rocketing.  I was able to get KER to work a bit, although it seemed to stop working on missions (the button with yellow/black stopped responding).  I removed KER and tried to get Mechjob2 to work, but no dice.

Any tips?  I feel like I'm missing something obvious.  Is it not for career mode?

First, welcome to the forums!

How did you download the file package? You should just put the "Mechjeb2" folder into your KSP "Gamedata" folder. After that, open KSP and  do a main search for "AR202" to see if it just didn't get filtered correctly. 

If that didn't work, contact Serbian in the OP.

EIDT: Oh, you're on career? Here's how the Mechjeb career tree works:

You unlock the AR202 at the fourth? Node and from then on you keep buying "upgrades" for the program, like automatic rendezvous, ascent guidance, etc.
