No thumbnails for parts

Hi all, just bought the game so hope this isn't a silly question.

When building a ship, I notice all the 'parts' are just grey outlines in the menu. They show fine in the editor when on the ship. When I've seen screenshots and videos of the game the parts in the menu actually look like parts, not outlines.

I am running unmodded and have verified integrity. Running GTX 980 card with latest NVIDIA drivers.
