Chaos on the launch pad, peace in the VAB

Not sure if this is gameplay-related or technical, buuuuut...

In the VAB, my craft looks like this:

Notice the eleventh stage says all four engines are present. Ready to go, right?  However, when I hit Launch, it appears on the pad like this:

It's been loading and launching fine until now.

Which version of the game are you using? This is almost certainly a mod-bug-interaction of some sort. If you want to track it down, you need to start simplifying that craft until the problem goes away, then put enough pieces back on that the problem comes back, then convert all the parts to stock equivalents, and then start removing your mods, one by one.
