Are Lagrange points possible in KSP?

Recommended Posts

I was thinking in launching a couple of missions recreating  SOHO and a SENTINEL for asteroid tracking, and some orbital telescopes from a mod, but I think these points aren't possible in KSP because of the physics in the game, am I right? If it's not possible, is there an alternative for these points where a probe can be in Kerbol SOI and also be aligned with Kerbin?

Sort of yes, and sort of no. True Lagrange points require 3-body physics, which stock KSP does not do. However, since you already have modded your game, there are mods you can add that will allow n-body physics -- and therefore Lagrange points.

Well, the point of Lagrange points is that they are "stable" -- or metastable, at least.

L3 (opposite side of the sun, same orbit), L4, or L5 (60 degrees behind and ahead of a celestial body in the same orbit) in the stock game will give you metastable orbits of the correct period.
