3D printed permament structures

Recommended Posts

Would it be very difficult to add to the KSP the ability to print solid 3D structures on the surface of the planet?
I saw ideas from the above link and in my opinion, such a thing would give a lot of fun and many mini games with the participation of kerbals.

We could have defined some basic models (as we have parts) eg flat airport, dome and cylinder with door on the bottom, piramide, etc. For each model should be a scale selection, the color of the walls would depend on the biome on which it is built.

I imagine how players would build cities on every planet.

There are already mods that make inflatable habs. All the 3d printed variety require is a different animation (if anyone even cares about the animation). You'd have a pull down for colors, where they are pegged to planet surfaces. Mun colored, Duna, etc. Perhaps a generic gray as a default.

Sounds good, but we already have mods for that

I always think this argument is entirely redundant in the suggestions section. Why? Well we've had mods for virtually everything Squad has implemented as stock/dlc recently. We had multiple mods for communication networks, mods for Apollo parts, mods for Soyuz parts, mods for particle FX and mods for texture swapping.

I especially find it somewhat annoying when someone is suggesting something that would help fix a stock game issue i.e. contracts for building bases but no base specific parts and no way of building bases that isn't horrifically messy.
