I feel dense - how to use liquid xenon tanks?

Recommended Posts

So, I have an ISF cryo tank with liquid xenon in it. I have a xenon-using engine and a boatload of electricity. But that liquid xenon isn't used in the engine. I get the "out of fuel" animation immediately. MechJeb's delta-V calc also shows zero.

Presumably it's easy to get gaseous Xenon from the liquid by just decanting it from the cryo tank and letting it warm up.

What am I missing?

You have a tank of "liquid xenon"

Your engine needs "xenon"

KSP resource flow (including fuel) is based from resource name on config file. So an engine that uses "liquid fuel" cannot be used with tanks containing "lqd fuel", since even if it's technically the same resources, the game doesn't recognize it as compatible due to the different resource name

OK. So I guess that there are engines in the main Kerbal Interstellar mod that use liquid xenon. I only have NFP installed as of yet, because I'm already getting bewildered by the huge array of engines from just that and stock. (Someday I may use some of my limited gaming time to creata a spreadsheet to help pick engines for new ships, sigh.)

Thanks!
