Mars Curiosity Rover Style Landing!

In the latest video of my Kerbal Space Program LP I decided to show off my Mars Curiosity style lander that I made a couple weeks ago!

I first launch the lander into orbit, do a de-orbit burn and detach the lander. Next I enter the atmosphere and lose some speed with my heat shield.

After losing my heat shield I deploy my parachute which will only slow me down to about 27 m/s so when I get close to the ground I fire up my rockets which are stacked on top of decouplers.

With my ASAS on I slow all the way down to the point where my parachute goes away and I lower myself to 2 feet off the ground at a hover and drop my pod, having my rockets fly away.

nice. i never seen a video of a curiosity landing without any mods. good job!
