Tiny Mun Lander

Hi! My first post. I've been lurking for a while

I'm trying to understand this video:

Specifically time 2:47

How on Kerbin did he launch with that tiny rocket all the way to the Mun and back?

I tried building just that same rocket, it didn't even take off!

(the only difference was in the command module of course, as that command module no longer exists)

Is this a difference because of the version? Have liquid fuels gotten weaker? Or command module much heavier? Or something?

These liquid fuel engines are really weak, now =)

Lander engine thrust went down to 20 from 50 between 0.15 and 0.16

Flies fine for me.

Though some differences in the fuel flow and staging suggest the build could be more efficient in a 0.16 version. Might have to be; I haven't done a good comparison of fuel tank and engine performance with v 0.15

maltesh, I meant just the tiny rocket seen at 2:47

I couldn't get that to take off...

But OK, people here say that the small engine thrust has gotten weaker in this version, so I guess that makes all the difference
