Wheres the Kernal Nauts?

Recommended Posts

I've been looking through the model files mainly in the "parts" folder and I can't find any of the Kerbal astronauts or worker (the guys you see walking around on the ground as you build your ships) models anywhere! I've also looked in the other files and don't see anything that could be a Kerbal model (no .obj or .dae files)

One other issue I've been baffled about is most of the files in the "parts" folder do not have the .dae files for example "fuelTank1-2" does not have any .dae files, only .MU and .MBM files. Is this just a way to save poly count in the game and just re-texture the same model? To me that's the only logical explanation.

This leads me to my final question which is where are the the rest of the models held? The building models and planet models specifically? Anyway thanks for taking a look at this, who ever does and devs keep up the good work, I've been looking for this kind of game for a very long time.

Edit (I realize the N should be a B in the title of the thread, darn keys)

MU and MBM models are just another format that developers use to export models. This is generated mainly by Unity and is much more flexible than DAE. Most KSP resources are held in the KSP_Data folder, where they are archived in a format that is only readable by the game for now (until someone makes an asset snooper :P). As for the in-vehicle Kerbals, I have no idea how they work and in what part of the level/scene they are in.

that's the layer the interior is in. the camera's of unity use these layers to render . the internal camera renders the kerbals layer and the internals layer, the portraid only renders the kerbals layer. they have nothing to do with the kerbals themself
