Recovery Icon Bug!

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I'm having an annoying problem with KSP. After exiting my game while a probe of mine was sinking to the bottom of the ocean near the KSC I came back to find a debris marker sitting on the launch pad. I initially figured it was my launch clamps from the previous flight, but when I attempt to recover by clicking on the tag it displays no craft info and I'm unable to clear the tag. I then went into the tracking station to see if I could remove it that way, but the debris is not present in the tracking station. I should add that I am running a modded version of KSP 1.7 with Breaking Grounds and Making History, a list of mods will be below.

I've looked into the persistent save file but I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for, any help would be appreciated!

If you'd like to see the persistent file please ask I'd be more than happy to let someone more experienced take a look at it.

Hm...launchclamps are supposed to be recovered automatically after launching a vessel.

What happens if you try to launch another rocket? If the pad is blocked by the clamps, a window should popup and notify you about the other "craft" on the pad and offers you to recover it but even if this dialog does not popup, maybe the issue is gone afterwards anyway.

Otherwise, you can still upload your savegame and I'll take a look at it :)

Lets me launch without clearing the launch pad, and it seems the tag duplicates itself and floats around freely with the camera if I go into any of the buildings on the KSC or when loading a craft directly to the launchpad.

That's an odd issue. I've tried a few things and I probably found a solution, try the following steps:

  • Launch a vessel on the runway, a single probecore is fine
  • Recover the vessel immediately (the launchclamps on the pad should also disappear)
  • Recover/destroy every other debris on kerbin and in space (this will probably result in a "debris" blob floating around)
  • restart the game (this fixes the floating blob)

That should fix it for now but it will probably happen again, especially with the clamps but every time you recover a vessel, the clamps should disappear as well. If these steps doesn't fix it for you, here is your savegame without any debris:

This worked perfectly, didn't need to download the new file! Big thanks to you for the help!

Glad to hear :)

I'll try to figure out why this happens in the first place, I have the gut feeling it's an issue with UnKerballed Start and/or CommunityTechTree but it could also be just a minor file corruption of your savegame, because the SemiMajorAxis (SMA) of the clamps was "NaN", which doesn't seem to be correct.
