Minmus Rescue in Progress

I was testing out my interplanetary moon lander on Minmus, and I derped the controls at about 150m true altitude, bringing it down on its side. Unfortunately I didn't get a screenie of the admittedly awesome crash, but somehow the capsule survived and started rolling down the hill toward the methane lake, which was my landing goal anyways.

It came to rest fairly close to the lake, with all crew members alive and oddly happy at their misfortune (though they were the first Kerbals on Minmus, so maybe their scientific interest got the better of them).

I'm now scrambling to build a rescue lander with a crew tank. I wanted some input though, what's a reasonable time limit to give myself to make it fun and challenging. Say for example they are running out of air. I'm not sure of the time it would take to build, launch, orbit, and land. Mission clock stands at approximately 2:15:15, most of which was spent in Kerbin's orbit, so presumably they were resupplied before heading to Minmus. Stay tuned!

Well, assume they took enough supplies to get home again, which you could say would take just as long, give yourself another 2 and a half days!

Six hours left on the clock and coming in for a landing. Listening to the Planets Suite by Holst makes this very dramatic!

EDIT: Ugh. Jeb got his head stuck between the pod's thruster and fuel tank, so I quickloaded to what I thought was the rescue craft orbiting Minmus. Needless to say, it wasn't, and I lost both flights. As a consolation prize, here are pictures of Jeb with his head stuck in the lander's engine.

What a fail. He will be severely punished.

Well that's a damn shame. I guess the both crews would share food and air supply so you still have time to rescue both.

Well that's a damn shame. I guess the both crews would share food and air supply so you still have time to rescue both.

The quicksave it loaded to was before either flight started. I like to think that Minmus is a sentient being that absorbed the Kerbals.

High praise indeed I kinda want to intentionally crash another pod on Minmus just to try this scenario again, or strand one in orbit to try a rendezvous. Not sure yet.
