Issue with Stock Fairing Contract and Mods

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm relatively new back to the game after a few years, so I probably did something stupid.

In career mode, I had the procedural fairings mod, the companion procedural fairing mod I don't remember the name of (not home at the computer). I hadn't unlocked or used any fairings yet. I took the contract to test the stock fairing (EF1?) but when I would try to equip it under my command module I would just get blue lines no matter what, and it would always say 0 parts protected. I played with the settings, looked online, but couldn't figure it out.

I tried to unlock fairings on the tech tree (I also have community tech tree if that matters), which worked, but I still couldn't figure out how to use any of them.

So then I tried closing the game, uninstalling both procedural fairings, and opening it up. Now all the new fairings and aerodynamic stuff was gone from the VAB, including the experimental one I was supposed to be testing.

So I put the mods back, and it returned the procedural fairings to the VAB, but none of the other stock stuff, including the experimental one.

What is my next step? I'm kind of stuck. I spent a couple hours fighting with this last night and searching online and I don't know what to do.

Thanks.

Procedural fairings works fine, you can re-intall it if you like. If I may wager a guess, your problem may have come from installing the mod "Procedural fairing for everything". It essentially makes all fairing bases (stock and modded) to use the procedural fairings interface and fairing parts, among other things.

A little while ago, I found out that one of the making history missions was unvailable, because the part "fairingside2" (or sth like that) was missing. Turned out that uninstalling said mod fixed my problem. Not sure of course if the mod was at fault, or simply I installed it wrong.

Thanks. I think you're probably right. I've reinstalled the base procedural fairings and left off the "for everything" to see if I have any issues. I didn't really understand what it did, but ckan suggested it when I picked the other, so I went with it.
