KSP Hanging When on Mun Surface - Since Latest KSP Update

Recommended Posts

Since the latest update, everything seems to work great EXCEPT any time I land on the Mun, or even just being on the Mun with units already present, within minutes everything locks up and I have to close KSP with task manager.

I get a graphics driver error stating something along the lines of "lost communication".

Using 2 Sapphire Radeon R9 Fury Nitro cards with Crossfire, which has now been disabled for the KSP profile after this issue started, but it still crashes when using only one card. I have the latest AMD drivers.

Any ideas?

This only happens on the surface of the Mun right now, but I am sure other planetary bodies will result in the same.

This seems to appear with different combinations of GPUs and processors.

The bugtracker mentions a possible workaround:

After messing with some settings I found that changing Render Quality from Fantastic down to Beautiful or Good seems to lessen the problem or even make it go away completely.

I haven't left the Mun lander in 1.8, yet. I'll know tomorrow if my system also freezes.

Thanks so much, this worked!!! But it's very sadly less fantastic. :(
