Maneuver node/mechjeb maneuver planner disapearing outside of Kerbin SOI

For some reason, outside of kerbin's SOI I lose all maneuver node capabilities.

I'm running ksp 1.8.1, and I'm on science mode (so the tracking station shouldn't need upgrades).

It happens on both pilot or probe controlled ships even with full comms whenever I'm interplanetary I have 0 maneuver nodes

Is there anyway for me to fix this?

I've tried relogging multiple times, swapping crafts, swapping where the craft is being controlled from, nothing seems to work
