catloaf
I would like a life support system that is basically simplified usi with elements of snacks. It should have a have a have time system like usi, which is already more important and could be standalone as a difficulty setting because it solves the space chair problem without polluting the game with logistics. The life support while be snaks, with Kerbals using 1 snack per Kerbin day (to make mission planning easier.) It should also have a 1 part recycler that makes Kerbals consume less snacks (first one should be mid tech tree because any difference less than 0.1 snack per day would cause it to become a logistics problem again. The most important thing about this system however is that you can use 1 simple equation to figure out how much life support you need: s = lkm Or the number of snacks required (s) is the length of the mission in Kerbin days (l) times the number of Kerbals (k) times the safety margin you want for the mission (m.) Even if you had some Kerbals using less due to recyclers you would just have to use the right half of the equation multiple times for each group (this is why having recyclers that cause Kerbals to use less rather than recycling waste gives far superior gameplay as the latter adds complication without any meaningful gameplay which we hope the devs are trying to avoid.)
