longbyte1
I could not find any better TTS engines or voices (tell me if you find any open-source high quality voices [Apple did not make Siri, they bought Siri]), so I just used Speakonia. I might use a better voice and put this into a plugin. So here are the voice files:http://filesmelt.com/downloader/kspTTS.zipTell me what you think! Runescope
I think you got Stephen Hawking to do the voice work. Dang but those are 80's sounds. I know there are better free ones out there. I have some on my phone that sound more human than some humans I know.Edit: Sorry, I meant to imply that I'll find a better free one and post it here. Runescope
Okay, so just on a cursory look I found this.http://www.ispeech.org/text.to.speech?link=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.ispeech.org%2Fapi%2Frest%3Fvoice%3Dukenglishfemale%26action%3Dconvert%26apikey%3D0ab8a27ef947d2b4b1f989bf2a9a6bf2%26speed%3D0%26text%3DEve%2520is%2520the%2520second%2520closest%2520from%2520Kerbal.%2520It's%2520Appearance%2520is%2520purple.%2520It%2520has%2520one%2520natural%2520satellite%2520called%2520gilly.%2520It's%2520gravity%2520is%25201.7%2520G's%2520compared%2520towhich sounds MUCH better. they say it's free for apps for phones and they charge $0.0001 per word which is dang cheap for what you want. But if you go to the demo on the webpage, you can get it to play anything you want and record it.Edit: I guess it cuts the end off because of a time limitation. that's not hard to get around though. Split the sound file into two bits and stitch it together in an audio editor. Easy Peasy Edited September 16, 2012 by Runescope

Easy Peasy Really good, but it should sound somewhat computerized and must be free by price and by license (GPL, CC-BY-SA, MIT license, BSD license, etc.). Runescope
You could always ask them if they'd let you use it for free. They seem to be fairly accommodating about it. And I've never understood the fixation about computers sounding like computers. lol
