Radar Altimeter

Has anyone else noticed the Radar altimeter while on IVA. I just used this to land, and though it takes getting used to, I think landing while on the internal view may be easier than the external view. So far it has seemed pretty accurate.

Radar altimeter shows true altitude.

For example, while landing on the Mun, you may land on a mountain that's several thousand meters higher than you expect, and smash into it because you're trusting your basic altimeter too much. The radar altimeter shows the altitude of whatever's directly underneath you (I assume) so that doesn't happen.

I believe it's near the same, if not, as the "True Altitude" that MechJeb gives you.

The basic altimeter reads from sea level, not from the ground under you.

I'm not talking about the one with the three hands on the dial. That's the standard altimeter. The one near it that's a single gadge that reads 0 - ~2000. I landed at the Mun with the Radar Altimeter reading out 0m while the regular one read out 1099m.

The radar altimeter is a great help. It would be cool to have a surface contact indicator light so you know when you have touched down and can cut the engines, like the Apollo missions had. I think IVAs have great potential to be awesome with all the instruments and lights that could be added in the future!
