Autopilot for *multiple* helicopters? (eg, TCA, AA, MJ, etc)

!WARNING! ridiculous question ahead.

I'm trying to get two to three helicopters on Kerbin to hover on a set path in a loose formation for a fairly brief amount of time (five seconds),  because I'm insane and want to record it for a scene (using 1.10.1). So far I've tried multiple parts mods and pre-built copters (Breaking Ground DLC, Airplane Plus, KAX, Cold War Aerospace) coupled with multiple autopilot mods (MJ, TCA, Atmosphere Autopilot) without much luck to get things to hover (since rotors aren't recognized as thrust generators by most mods) or fly in a relatively predictable pattern. So far, the best combination I've found is AA with Cold War Aerospace, but it's still VERY tenuous at best. I'd rather not have to get nipple-deep into scripting with kOS autopilot...at that point I'll just scrub the multiple-copter approach. But, my perfectionist side is manifesting itself.

Anyone have any success with other mods or approaches? Sorry, wasn't sure where to put this.
