Cant save games and menu buttons not responding

Hi

all of the sudden my game wont save. when I save the game is stuck in PAUSE until I click on ESC but it doesnt save, if I try to quit to main menu or go to tracking station nothing happens, the buttons do not respond in the menu.

I tried to reset the PC and start over, when I'm in the space center it is saving, but when I return to my in flight spaceship via the tracking station I have this "cant save" bug again.

any ideas?

EDIT:

I returned to an old save and the saving worked, I was during a Mun capture maneuver, I finished the maneuver and undocked my lander from the command module, at this point I could still save, when I finished my decent maneuver the save bug returned...
