Missing part thumbnails stop loading

Happened 2x in the last week, KSP gets stuck while loading individual part thumbnails (aka Squad/Parts/@thumbs/Rockomax64.BW_icon0) If I go hunt and find them they are corrupted so I just swap out another image and change the name and it boots, but multiple parts are afflicted so it gets stuck on the next. Verifying files via steam reveals corrupted files but doesn’t fix the problem.

Did a full uninstall a week ago and it fixed it but it’s happening again and I’m not trying to do this every week.

This happens especially if you are syncing to the Steam server. Each time you verify the files, then launch KSP, what happens is your local copy gets synced with the last time the game was backed up from your system to your files on Steam. And wham-o! The corrupted files are re-downloaded and they replace the files you've repaired using the "verify local files" option in Steam. I understand your frustration well. And all I can say is...

Although the option says Keep game saves in the Steam Cloud for Kerbal Space Program in my experience, this literally backs up everything in your Saves folder and in your GameData folder. So, I'd recommend going into Steam, go into your options, then make sure you uncheck this option. Go into your local copy of Kerbal Space Program; obviously you know where this is. Go into your GameData folder and delete your Squad folder. Go back to the game properties, then go back to local files and run the verify local files. This should solve the problems you are experiencing.

thanks, this did work. I just deleted the @thumbs folder in the main & expansion folders but it worked all the same.

Thanks for letting me know. It's something how something that appears to be insiginficantly small can throw a wrench into your plans!
