Rocket desintegrating without reason. :(

Recommended Posts

Hi,

could someone please have a look at this rocket and figure out why it is disintegrating in mid-flight?

There's no change between stages, it is during stage 11 that it's just exploding. :(

Any help is highly appreciated.

I would guess it either can't handle the rising thus to weight ratio (higher Gs/acceleration) or can't handle the high air drag, either way slowing it down a bit by removing or jettisoning un-needed engines should help - you don't need to be doing anything near 522m/s at 7km for a successful launch.

What Ferrin said. You can even see 'Highest G Force Endured' on the right of your post mission screen. 4.6 can be too high for a complicated rocket. Throttle down and keep it around 2G's (the last bit of green line) and you will be ok.

It's more efficient to completely remove engines than just to throttle down. Unless you're planning to land on a bigger planet like eve then getting into kerbin orbit will require the most power so additional engines are just unnecessary weight and generally make for more wasted fuel.

You're using at least one modded part on that rocket so I can't open it but given the craft file is 111kb I guess it's a pretty big machine so definitely shouldn't be hitting those speeds that early.
