Delta V values not shown for nuclear engine in VAB or Launch Pad

Recommended Posts

I've got KSPI loaded; when I add the stock nuclear engine to a stock tank, I no longer see a deltaV value for that stage in the VAB or on the Launch Pad. If I get the vehicle into orbit, then a deltaV value shows up in the staging stack. Even when I make sure that the basic LF is selected for the tank and the engine.

What am I missing?

Does the mod change the engine in anyway? Specifically the atmospheric key in the ModuleEngines? In the VAB, there is a button on the toolbar that lets you switch between sea level and vacuum for the calculations. If it works when you switch to vacuum then it may do. (It defaults on atmosphere and you mentioned it worked once in orbit is my reasoning).

Do you get a delta-V value with the KER or MechJeb delta-V calculators? Screenshots might help, preferably with the smallest possible craft- pod/probe core > fuel tank > NERV, in the VAB, on the pad and in orbit.

I didn't think to check either of those... I'll check that out when I can re-enter the Kerbalverse this evening.  And I'll see about posting pics.

Right, makes sense, but I checked out the dV tool and regardless of whether I have it set for Sea Level, Altitude, or Vacuum it shows as 0 dV available ... only the chemical engines change value.

So for some reason today it's showing dV values once the vehicle is on the pad and in orbit, but not when in the VAB. At least KSP, KER, and MJ2 are all in agreement: P9filRX.pngvgEjk3b.png

I’ll try and test on mine to see if it does it. TBH I never use that engine so don’t know off top of my head. It’s unlikely a mod as (pure assumption) they will just grab the stock value (hence them all reading the same) so could be a bug. TBH I’ve found a few issues with the stock dV read outs, as welcome as they are, so wouldn’t surprise me.
