Craft "smushing" issue

I recently discovered that when you leave crafts alone for like, more than a day they become "squished" and are really compact. It's annoying and i want to save my crafts from this.  Any suggestions?

Screenshots please, though you might be able to solve this problem using autostruts- for that you’ll need to go into the main menu settings and enable “advanced tweakables”, then set the autostruts for each part; grandparent or root part is best, heaviest can cause issues when you burn fuel and you should switch them all off if you’re going to dock anything together or they can mangle the combined craft.

I can't get an exact photo, but I discovered that it's not if you leave it for around a day, it's WHEN YOU SWITCH CRAFTS. Take for example a top-heavy pillar. If you switch to another thing and switch back, the parts set like it was placed like so when it was an exact pillar. Our pillar now has a caved-in part.
