Parts disappearing when attached to the bottom of craft

Whenever I place any parts on the snap point at the bottom of the small 1.25m service bay, the part and everything attached to it disappears. I believe this has happened with other parts too, but I'm sure it always happens with the service bay. Then I can't attach any part to any point, or save the craft, or click on many of the UI elements on screen until I reload the craft (the UI elements to do that still work). Can anyone else reproduce this?
