The map screen weirdness was probably a rogue input lock, you can clear that in the debug menu (alt+F12 > input locks > clear input locks). Not a glitch under the terrain, those always result in explosions.

There are no seismometer readings from “micrometeors”, it’s entirely due to real objects hitting the surface- possibly some debris from one of the previous vessels that managed to either miss the terrain or glitch through it and go around for another orbit before impacting.

Also- when Moho arrival?

Sometimes it helps to read the whole contract before accepting it. Part recovery contracts always give the size and weight of said part which makes it easier to tell what it is- 3.8m x 3.8m x 2m is obviously going to be a 3.75m fuel tank, or possibly a 3.75m structural part, though I think the weight said a little over 2 tons which is more in line with fuel tank than anything else.

I do believe in the video I mention the size mentioned etc and wonder if it might be the 3 man pod or some such ( my mistake was jumping to RP-1 scaling not failing to read the contract lol)

Looks like you got a better transfer window than I did when I tested that design, I had about 1km/s left in Moho orbit and landed on fumes but it seems you’ll have twice as much. The balance might be a bit iffy with that surface scanner though I can’t remember how heavy that is but I think it’s heavier than the other experiments.
