Back in 0.15 the game ran perfectly on my pc but with the added water effects of 0.16 the game became almost unplayably laggy. Fortunately for me I found someone on the forum who had an edited settings file that reverted the water effects back to how they were in 0.15.

This was a huge worry for me with the release of 0.17, the term "improved visuals" hanging over me like a death sentence!

So as you can presume, now the water effects are even further "improved" and I can’t even look at a planet with water (or whatever is on eve) without the game lagging to the point where control of my rocket is impossible!

Is there any way to revert the water effects back to how they were in 0.15 like the edited settings file i had before?

I’d do it myself but I have no idea how and I’ve lost the file since and can’t find the thread I got it from originally.

Am i the only one with this problem?

Have you tried disabling the SM3 terrain shaders? It will disable the water transparency effect.

Well, I'm pretty sure the settings aren't from .15, since water has been laggy from before then. Anyway, I would very much like these settings too, but for now I can make due.
