Issues with launching after craft construction

After building a ship in the VAB, I hit launch but it doesn't work, the upper buttons just darken and it stays stuck on the VAB screen. I can't move, add, or remove parts on the craft. Please help.

Alt+F12 > input locks > clear input locks, that might fix it. If not, the game might be trying to load the vessel on the pad/runway and you’ll need to wait for it to load.
