Voyages: A KSP Novel

[SSTO Crasher]

Hello Kerbalnauts 

I have wanted to do a KSP story for a while, and I think now might be a good time to start, with my most recent mission.

Here I go

Part 1:

They watched, all across the world they watched, and waited. At least the space geeks did. Today was a big day, it was the day Duna Pathfinder 1 left Kerbin orbit for Duna, the ship was launched a day before, and everyone wanted to know what would happen.

 

The kerbals who cared the most however, were the 12 people at the console, they had spent months testing this ship, thinking over every detail, and now it was time, the lander that would one day carry kerbals to Duna was beginning its fist full scale unmanned interplanetary test. At the console gathered Jebediah Kerman, veteran pilot for the Kerbal Air Force and later Kerbal space agency, Valentina Kerman, Former test pilot for the Koviet Union, defected to the Kerbal union after her superiors tried to have her executed for refusing to bomb a KSA installation, it was her information that propelled the KSA's rocketry designs, fist kerbal to minimus, wife of Jeb, The twins Bill and Bob, both former members of C7 Aerospace, Karvard alumni, Gene Kerman,  KSA administrator, Founder of the KSA, Wernher von Kerman, Chief rocket scientist, head of the science department, the president, Strong promoter of aerospace, gave the KSA almost unlimited funding, and his 5 man security team.

"alright, they should shut down the engines soon"

Bill and Bob were pacing

Jeb and Val were sweating, very rare for pilots of their caliber, but they know that they will one day ride this ship

Gene refused the coffee that was brought to him, he didn't need it anymore

The  President stared at the incredible image

Wernher stared at his blueprints

The guards griped their guns a little  tighter

"Control"

"Go communication" says gene

We have escape velocity

and everyone breathed a sigh of relief

Part 2

They all celebrated that night, the entire ksc was stoped all activity to celebrate. In fact that same day the stores of Minimus ice cream™ mysteriously all ran out of supplies. They followed the ship through its escape

It’s injection burn

 

the inclination change

And finally, months later, the insertion.

 

“Hey control” says the comma guy

“Go comms” says gene

“We’re getting some weird data here.”

“Weird?”

“we are picking up an insane radiation spike”

“I KNEW WE SHOULD NOT HAVE USED THE ENGINE CORES THAT WE WERE GIVEN”

“Sir, first of all, those cores were perfect, second of all, it’s coming from outside the ship”

“telemetry”

“yes control”

“Get me a read on our altitude”

“control”

“*sigh* go comms”

“we are loosing signal fast”

“How much do we have”

“LOS”

And the room exploded into a choirs of “LOS” and “try to require”

they failed

“hello gene”

 “Hello Wernher”

 “I want you to know, none of our satellites we affected, meaning the affect was localized to the lander, I think we need to proceed.”

 “Good, prepare Duna pathfinder 2, it’s Job will be to map landing sites”

Part 3:

"sir, Duna pathfinder 2 is ready"

"Launch"

"All systems proceeding nominally" 

"we decided to take jebs advice on rocket separation"

"what do you mea-"

"MOAR BOOSTERS"

"Gah, why did we launch at night"

"we were playing human space program during the day"

"Cant argue against that"

"sir"

"yes"
"we've lost the craft"

"launch again, this time at day"

Duna Pathfinder 2 V2

"Clearing the pad"

"Initiating gravity turn"

"admiring view"

"MOAR BOOSTERS"

"hey we've got a problem here"

and then it crashed

"MARK MY WORDS, THIRD TIMES THE CHARM"

"MOAR BOOSTERS"

"Burning for orbit"

"Finally"

"sir"

"DON'T YOU SAY IT, DON'T YOU DARE"

"we're in orbit"

"I TOLD YOU, now, burn for duna"

Many months later, duna pathfinder 2 was arriving at duna

"sir"

"go comms"

"No interference"

And the space center celebrated, and many of them got a new wallpaper

Authors note: the reason I launched  so many times was because the engines were not shutting down and the rocket was drifting and not following its course, don't ask me why, the kraken shows no mercy
