Adjusting part options does not work

When I try to complete the tutorial, it tells me to adjust parts by right clicking on the parachute, however when I do that nothing shows up? How can I fix that issue because I just bought this today

Might need a little more information from you.  First, are you Windows, Mac, Linux, or console?

When you 'right click' on a part in the VAB or SPH (Vehicle Assembly Building or Space Plane Hangar..), it should bring up a window, called a PAW (Part-action window), where you can adjust some of the characteristics of the part.  You can also do this in-flight, but sometimes there are fewer traits that are adjustable in-flight.

If you think you are right-clicking while hovering over the part, and nothing is happening, you might need to configure your mouse in KSP.  It would be helpful to know what OS you are using.  Also, did you get the game on Steam or through the store?  (that probably doesn't make much difference in this case)
