UFO near launch site

Ok not exactly, but as I was launching a mission this weird flying spinning satellite being ridden by an orange suited Kerbonaut appeared next to my craft:

I ignored it, and then - related or not - my rocket RUD'd about 30 seconds into flight.
When I reverted it appeared again higher:

And once again I RUD'd after about 30 seconds.

I don't know if those are connected, but I thought it was weird.

Your problem has been moved from KSP 2 Suggestions and Development to KSP 2 Tech Support for better visibility. It looks both weird and spooky to me.

I had this happen, too. Restart of the game got rid of it.

Looks like it might be one of the main menu ships, you can almost see the kerbal on the seat.

How is a main menu ship on the launch pad?  Like, how does that even begin to happen?

Maybe whatever spawns the flyby ships in the main menu spawned that ship near the launchpad for some reason
