Launch FROM KSC2...

Recommended Posts

Many of you know that there is a second KSC on Kerbin. For those of you who haven't discovered that fact yet, suprise!

Be aware, new awards may crop up in edits later as I come up with them...

Here's the challenge:

Jebediah wants to launch from KSC2, not for any practical purpose, but just to say he's done it. Bill and Bob, however, have required that the launch have SOME practical use, so Jeb has modified the challenge slightly. Here's his requirements to complete this challenge.

-The craft will travel to KSC2. Any means of getting there are allowed. You must arrive and stop within 1 km of the launchpad at KSC2.

-The craft will then launch a rocket that MUST make at LEAST a 100 km X 100 km orbit.

-The craft must then execute a landing at the regular KSC and land within 1 km of the spot you took off from.

-Ion engines are NOT allowed. Neither is refuelling in any way.

-Any other mods are allowed.

-Scoring will be based on the following rubric:

-1 point for every meter closer to each of the targets than 1km. MAX 2000 POINTS.

-1 point for every ton of vehicle delivered to the KSC2 target. NO MAX POINTS.

-Bonus points as detailed below.

There will be two classes: 1-man, and 3-man.

The following awards will be available. Some are specific to certain stages of the challenge, and some are overall.

NOTE: Check these often, as new ones may appear.

Direct: take a direct transit to the target, and spend no time in orbit. 5 points.

Slo-mo: use a Cart-based part to drive to the target. NOT COMPATIBLE WITH "Walking on Air" AWARD. 5 points.

Plane Brain: fly to target using wings and jets. 10 points.

Long Way 'Round: fly all the way around the planet to reach the target. 15 points.

Once Around: go into orbit around Kerbin before descending to KSC2. 20 points.

Loiter: Spend multiple orbits before descending to the target. 5 points.

Walking on Air: EVA while in transit to the target. NOT COMPATIBLE WITH "Slo-mo" AWARD. 5 points

Power Ranger: Use a powered descent to KSC2. 30 points.

Marksman: Land on the KSC2 launchpad. 100 points.

Look, Ma, No Chutes: Don't use parachutes during your landing at the target.

Jump Around: EVA at KSC2.

SSTO: Utilize a SSTO craft to execute the orbital requirement. 50 points.

SSTO^2: use the same stage to retun to the KSC as you used to reach KSC2. 100 points.

You're Going The Wrong Way: Launch into a retrograde orbit. 10 points.

Power Management: Execute a powered landing at the KSC. 10 points.

Sniper: Land on the launch pad at KSC. 100 points.

Rock God: Utilize only Rockomax brand parts. 10 points.

Sunburn, 3rd Class: Escape Kerbal's SOI at any point during the flight. 2500 points.

Sunburn, 2nd Class: Cross Eve's orbit at any time during the flight. 500 points.

Sunburn, 1st Class: Cross Moho's orbit at any time during the flight. 1000 points.

Redneck: Cross Duna's Orbit at any time during the flight. 500 points.

By Jool, He's Got It!: Cross Jool's orbit at any time during the flight. 1500 points.

Dirty Boots: Land and EVA on any celestial body other than Kerbin during the flight. 3000 points.

Who Needs MechJeb?: Execute the entire flight without using MechJeb. Multiply all points by 2.

Cool Hand Jeb: Use no ASAS or SAS lock during the entire flight. Multiply all points by 2.

Jebediah Approves: Keep Jebediah happy during the entire flight. 100 points.

Crowd Pleaser: Keep ALL crew happy during flight. 200 points. (3-man class only.)

Hawkeye: Land on BOTH pads. 500 points.

I am open to suggestion for other awards.

Last spoiler failed. I think caps dont work...

I made it work now :P

Caps work, backslashes on the close spoiler tag do not. It's the "\spoiler" bit that's messed up.

So.. we get the TEL craft we made for the TEL challenge, drive it to KSC2, fly to 100km orbit and land at KSC2?

I think the idea is to drive to KSC2, fly to 100km orbit, then land at KSC1, but yeah, basically.
