Has anyone found a fix for the common problem where KSP refuses to load a craft with a kethane part on it? (only see space, no planet or craft, unable to end flight). Sorry but I just don't feel like looking through 90+ pages for a solution :S

need more info than this...what version kethane, what version ksp, other mods you have installed.

The more info you include with a possible bug report, the more liable you are to get accurate help.

I've downloaded the latest Kethane mod (downloaded today), running on latest KSP patch, other addons I have are:

Quantum Struts v2.0.3

KSPX pack v0.2.2

Kosmos SSPP R4.32

FASA Asteroids

Simple Part Organizer v0.250

Lazor Docking Cam v281

Extraplanetary Launchpads v1.1

MechJeb2 v2.0.8.0

Edit: I also tried the "fix" where you delete the kethane.cfg in your save folder, didn't work.

Mod idea, or 'stock' Kethane idea I guess if Majiir was interested: my Kerbals are currently salvaging solar panels from a crashed satellite on Minmus to attach to the ship that got them there, because their is running out of electric charge on Ion drive very quickly and otherwise they're just littering space. They're doing this by grabbing and attaching stuff with the Kerbal Attachment System. Its great fun and gives purpose to EVAs.

I was thinking it would be pretty fun to make a grabbable handheld metal-style "detector" for the Kerbals, who can then walk around beeping with a range of like 1 metre. Utterly pointless, and probably redundant as the hotspots are usually geographically huge, but fun nonetheless for geeks like me.

and your replacing the kethane.dll that comes with kethane download with the .dll from EL mod?

Reliably freezes here as well, KSP is at 2216MB, uses 22-25% CPU (quad core) and all I see is space and a partial non-functional UI when I try to launch anything with kethane parts on it, I've ditched EL for now and removed all traces of it.

Don't think I did.. I will try this, and come back to you shortly.

Nope didnt work.

Can all the support requests go in the Addon Support forum? Or the Development forum? This is a releases thread, and the same questions are getting asked over and over with the general theme being questions of the standard of "have you tried turning it off and on again switching the fuel lines?"

Since you started the game with the kethan.dll instead of the one from EL there is info in your save messing it up now. Go into KSP/saves/<your savename> and find kethane. Its a cfg file, it should be just above your 'persistent' and 'quicksave' files. Delete the kethane file and restart KSP. it should remake kethane.cfg in your save file, but this time it should be coming from the EL modified .dll

I would appreciate this. In particular, this is not the Extraplanetary Launchpads thread. If you are using Extraplanetary Launchpads, do NOT post support requests here. I cannot help you. The temporary EL fork is completely unsupported by Kethane, and you should not expect save files made by EL to work after EL is uninstalled. When Kethane 0.6 is released, EL will use the public API and I can support it then.

If its not there beside the medium one I would recommend reinstalling Kethane, there's a chance a file may have gotten corrupted, as it comes with two scanners by default

Also, ISA+Kethane works for for me, on the same satellite running at the same time. I also have an ISA dish and small detector on every one of my space craft that I send out farther than Mun and none of them crash while either or both are active. I'm not saying its unrelated, just that it doesn't happen to everyone :)

I honestly haven't used the compact detector since 0.5 release. Used to use em to supplement big scanners on my satellites, but they don't have the range now. I know most use them for landers/ surface craft, but I don't use them for that. The big boy scanner is still my best bud =P

I've actually never used the larger one. I have one strapped on the side of one of my earlier tanker ships for some reason

I don't scan from more than 150km up, so I haven't even noticed the ranges were changed :)

@KhaosCorp - How are you powering your Kethane scanners? A whole mess of RTGs? I tend to build lighter than a lot of players so I'm trying to optimize my use of RTGs over batteries and solar based on the number of scanners and orbital period.
