Timewarp with xenon engines near planet doesn' t work

Recommended Posts

Hello,

sometimes i had problem with timwarp, when i burn with only xenon engine, the vessel doesn t accelerate.

It happens when i am near to the planet and in planet gravity influence.

that type of engine, not having much thrust, needs temporal acceleration...

Anyone else had this problem?

Many thanks!!

In my experience, warp with Xenon does work, I was doing that last week on a probe-to-Eeloo mission.

In fact, the ion engines can't really be used without warp, since it takes sooo long for the burns.

You either have to burn far far out from a planet (assume you won't get any Oberth effect); or else do the burn in many many passes at periapsis (only works for departure burns, not capture burns).

No ok,

checking again now the methalox engine doesn't work either, i use timewarp until i arrived near to eve with xenon engine then when i'm near to Eve influence, it don 't work.

I reactivate with group the engines with methalox, maybe this cause a problem, i don 't know... Anyway with a lot of times, i reach Gilly, without timewarp

I also have this message "no control over the vehicle" from the start in the hangar when i build my new vehicle, until i exit from kerbal atmosphere ...

Now if i start new vehicle i always have the message!!

  • 1 month later...

I've been encountering the same issue with the "Dawn" engine in the latest release of KSP2.  I've got 4 different probes.  One is in an eliptical orbit around Eve, which gets no thrust while under time warp.  I have a second in an eliptical orbit around Jool which DOES get thrust while under time warp.  I have a third that did a sample return mission from Moho.  That one did not get thrust while it was in Moho SOI, but did get thrust under time warp for a number of correction burns I needed to do while it was returning to Kerbin (so while in Kerbol SOI).  But once it got into Kerbin SOI, it no longer had thrust under time warp.  And finally I have a fourth that it touring the moons of Jool.  That one has thrust under time warp while in Jool SOI and not close to any of the moons, but once it gets close (or is in) a moon's SOI, thrust under time warp stops working.   I've not sent a probe like this out to Dres or Eeloo yet, so not sure about those two, but as far as I can tell, the "Dawn" engine can only support thrust under time warp when the probe in question is a long way from the center of a SOI and not close to an SOI interface.
