Easing craft spawning.

I'm putting together a thingy which attempts to spawn crafts into the simulation area in "real-time", while I have gotten the basic functionality to work fine, KSP has a tendency to stutter, as ShipConstruct.LoadShip() doesn't seem to yield (correct me if I'm wrong). Not entirely sure this is the actual cause. So I am wondering if there is any known, or common ways of easing a ship load so I can somehow  retain "real-time"?

For context, this is what I am cooking.

When carrying valuables such as science there is a chance the interstellar tax collection agency shows up to claim outstanding liabilities. At the moment it just warns the player in advance that a "warp-in" is imminent with some special effects, so one can prepare for the stutter, but ideally it would be much more interesting if they show up with as little warning as possible.
