Loading flights in progress - Novapunch parts

When loading a flight in progress, the game stays on the loading icon and black screen (with some of the UI buttons showing).  Everything else works perfectly.

I've narrowed down the issue to the Novapunch fuel tanks I'm using.  Is this a known issue, and is there a workaround?  Or do I just need to ditch the tanks and rebuild?

I have already tried reinstalling the game and mods, and starting new games.  I've also uninstalled mods one by one.  But, again, the only one that resolves this is removing Novapunch.  I have around 30 total mods.  Any help is appreciated.
