The purpose of the fan-works area is to look at everyone's fanart/videos/ETC. not just looking at 2 or 3 threads then being done for the day. Somehow, it evolved, I got pulled in to write, and now we use the thread to keep in touch with friends and fans, and reassure them that progress is taking place. I don't know about other large threads, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same for them.Personally, I like it when a creator keeps in touch with the fanbase. It reassures the fans that progress is being made and they aren't longing after a dead!fic/storyline, and it motivates the creator (in this case, creators) to keep working, because they don't want to dissapoint the fans who may have become friends.To conclude, if you don't like the mega-threads, don't enter them.
