RSS minimum playable install with option of Pricipia

Recommended Posts

I'd like to play in the RSS, but I know there are issues with delta V when using larger SSs and stock parts. I would also like the option to try out Principia to allow experimenting with proper gravity assists, and I'm not sure if that interacts properly with the half size or Kerbin size or any resized RSS. It's not an essential requirement but I'd like the option if it's possible.

Can anyone suggest a "base" mod set that will give me a playable game? I have all DLCs but happy to turn them off if they don't play nicely, and I have no problem rolling back to previous version if required. Previously I have tried to set up a game like this myself, and generally spend so many tries setting up, crashing, reloading, testing, configuring, etc, that by the time I have something playable I'm not even sure if it satisfies the original goal lol. I'd prefer not to go through that again as I end up not playing the game due to the effort I've taken to get something hobbled together.

Thanks.

I believe MechJeb is recommended for doing burns in Principia. Other than that I don't think you need need anything if you're crazy enough — RSS interplanetary on stock parts is 100% possible — but SMURFF makes it all a lot cleaner. (I play on 10x Kerbin with the SMURFF dials set to 0.5; bringing them up to 1 might be overkill, but if you don't have large-parts mods or ProceduralParts or anything, then maxing out SMURFF might help keep your lifters to a manageable size.)
